Welcome to Let's Buy the Rainforest!
A proposed 'Wellbeing, Conservation & Creative Fundraising project'.
A proposed 'Wellbeing, Conservation & Creative Fundraising project'.
In a nutshell, this idea is about young people enlisting the support of famous people to help save the planet!
The project has 3 key goals:
1) To provide opportunities & positive experiences for our young people.
2) To help to protect the rainforest (with the World Land Trust).
3) To raise funds for our Special Projects which support young people in the UK.
We plan to achieve these goals through a series of creative campaigns (see below), which will be run by the Rainforest Council of young people. Our first task will be to establish an initial Rainforest Council, made up of young people who are supported by us in the south west.

Proposed Launch Campaigns
The Rainforest Council will contact celebrities around the world, who will be invited to 'plant a kiss (and sign our card) for the rainforest'.
'Plant a Kiss' cards will be auctioned and it is proposed that every £1 raised will protect 217 sq. ft. of rainforest (cost 50p) and provide 50p of funding to be spent on special projects that will support vulnerable young people in the UK. The amount of rainforest the kiss helps to protect will be written on the card, making this a truly unique piece of 'feel good' celebrity memorabilia. Note: It costs the World Land Trust £100 to protect 1 acre of rainforest. There are 43,560 sq. ft in an acre. Therefore just 1p will protect 4.36 sq. ft! |
'Draw a Doodle for the Rainforest' |
'Draw a Doodle for the Rainforest' is a campaign that involves our young people sending doodle cards to famous people and asking that person to draw a doodle for the rainforests.
The card will be auctioned and the amount of rainforest it helps to protect will be written in the space on the card. |
The site will also feature a 'Rainforest Protected Counter', which will record all the precious land we help the World Land Trust to protect. This will be a great 'feel good' number for everyone involved in the project, especially as we watch it get bigger and bigger!
It is proposed that funds raised from these campaigns are spent on 'Special Projects' that support vulnerable young people in the UK.
These projects would be detailed on the site. Under this proposal the Rainforest Council would choose which projects to help. We believe that empowering the young people on the Council with the opportunity to decide which projects to support, with funds that they have helped to raise, makes this wellbeing, conservation and fundraising idea complete! |
